Cascading Styles    

I know this is a big one but I would like to be able to base paragraph styles off of one another so that I can easily change something, like the font, in a root style and have it cascade throughout the rest of the styles that are based on that root style

Support for footnotes    

When importing documents from openoffice there should be a way to keep footnotes in the text. This is a feature missing also from other non-oss layout programs. It would give scribus a head-start especially for academic publications.

Kerning    

To be able with shortcuts or the mousewheel to kern (track) two or more letters.

Shadows of drawings and photos    

I'd like to be able to add nice, transparent shadows with gradients to my drawings and photos within a Scribus document.

Ink density management in Scribus    

There must be a management tool and checking the density of ink, which are similar to Separate and Ink Limit palette in InDesign. This will raise the value of Scribus for professional pre-press

Paragraph Styles "Link" From Properties:Text Tab    

Rather than having to go up through Edit>Paragraph Styles menu to get to the Paragraph Styles editor it would be easier and more intuitive to bring it up from the Properties:Text tab.

Color Mixer as separate panel    

Solution for making new color and adding it on geometry is complicate, slow and not intuitive. Color Mixer should be made as separate panel. Drag and drop routine from Color Mixer on the fill or outline would speed up work in Scribus.

SVG feBlend import support    

I know scribus can do blending modes thanks to the ciaro backend.

Wouldn't it be great if someone wrote the transitioning language when importing blending objects and groups from SVG.

Improving work with regular expressions    

Adding to the dialogue "Search / Replace" support for regular expressions, such a dialogue "Grep" in InDesign CS3.
Transferring the conservation team of regular expressions of "Text Filter" dialogue "Get Text" in dialogue "Search / Replace"
Display marks Cyrillic (expanded) in the field "Text" in dialogue "Search / Replace"

Improved node editing    

i would like to be able to edit the "move node" and the "move control points" at the same time rather than having to go back and forth everytime to do this. It would agilize a lot the work process.

Tagged PDF Support (Accessibility)    

I'm not sure how difficult this would be but the ability to support the tagged PDF format would be nice although it might require an enhancement to Styles in order to make it effective.
